Synopsis
The film is the story of a trip on the remote island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean. The expedition is a hard trek to the interior of the island, known in antiquity for its Phoenix and Rukh birds. On the journey are Ahmed Afrar, youngest son of the late sultan of Socotra, some companions and three cameleers with their animals.
Enroute to visit relatives, the socotrians speaking in their own language, a descendent of the old language of the Kingdom of Saba, they tell stories by the fire. During the night, conversation turns to legends of djinns and monstrous snakes that dwell in the cavernous interior of the island. A vanishing world is revealed.disappointment!. الفيلم هو قصة رحلة صعبة داخل” جزيرة سوكوترا” النائية في المحيط الهندي. الجزيرة ، معروفة في العصو القديمة بطيورها “فينيكس” و”روخ”. في الرحلة أحمد أفرار ، الابن الأصغر للسلطان الراحل لجزيرة سوكوترا ، وبعض الاصدقاء وثلاثة زائرين مع حيواناتهم.
في طريقهم لزيارة الأقارب ، يتحدثون بلغتهم ، سليل اللغة القديمة لمملكة سابا ، يروون القصص بجانب النار. خلال الليل ، تتحول المحادثة إلى أساطير الجن والأفاعي الوحشية التي تسكن في الجزء الداخلي الكهفي من الجزيرة. فيلم يكشف عن عالم قديم يتلاشى.
Director
Jordi Esteva is a Spanish writer, editor, producer and film director. Originally a photographer, Esteva has directed three documentaries that explore the ceremonies, rituals, and ethnographic details of far corners of the world, such as the Ivory Coast and a small island in the Arabian Sea. His most recently film, Socotra, the Land of Djinns, premiered at Documenta Madrid.
وُلد جوردي إستيفا عام 1951 في برشلونة. إنه كاتب ومصور كان مفتونًا دائمًا بأفريقيا والشرق الأوسط وبالتالي يركز معظم نشاطه كصحفي ومصور على هذا الجزء من العالم. كان أول فيلم وثائقي له هو (العودة إلى أرض النفوس). (Retour au pays des âmes)
أمضى خمس سنوات في مصر يعمل في إذاعة القاهرة الدولية، في عام 1966 تم تكليفه بمشروع فوتوغرافي لتسجيل بنية الأطلس المغربي وفي عام 1994 شارك في مشروع اليونسكو للتراث العالمي لعام 2001 وكلف بتصوير مدينة مراكش.
