Last May, our friend and filmmaker, Dalila Ennadre filmmaker, died in the French capital at the age of 53.
With this early departure, the Moroccan cinema was deprived of a documentary filmmaker with a distinguished voice and her own project, which, if she had been allowed to complete it, would have given this cinema a lot, and more than that to the Moroccan woman who devoted all of her films to depicting her reality, concerns and dreams.

Ennadre possessed caring and sensitive eyes, especially in depicting the reality of lonely marginalized women, forgotten women, and the poor, crushed classes, and emerges from this miserable reality with a different aesthetic product.

The man almost absent in her films, and even if he appears, his presence remains marginal or to testify about this difficult reality in which the only women bear the cruelty of life in it with conviction accompanied by high cynicism and a corresponding determination to perpetuate life and perform all its duties; Whoever works to earn a living, housework and child care, amidst the reality of poverty and marginalization in which they drown.

The first time we met Dalila was back in 2001 in Africa in the picture film festival, where we were head of the north African program. Then followed a special friendship. We were also one of the first to screen her work to a wider audience in different venues in Europe via our project at the time VideoKaravaan.

From our archives, we would like to share this program with two of her documentary films. Two honest portraits of women, life in the medina, in the countryside, about love and desire, the passage of time, memory and the inner journey.
